Will...

So herein lies the struggle. that moment in your life when you see yourself standing waiting for the oncoming onslaught of life. you know what? in movies, with the monsters, serial killers, earth quakes, aliens and all, they make it all too damn simple. in reality, the more sublte destructions of life are much stronger and much more lethal.

you have a situation which is less favorable than an ant VS an ant eater and you have importance that will make you want to pull out all reserves and try whatever you have; and things that you dont. then you have you; and you have your resources. lets quantify the resources at first.

First of all you have mind; either enforced by or weakned by rationality. depending on what effects it more; this can be one of the strongest or weakest tools. it either adds or subtracts value. secondly you have the facts. the facts are a funny thing. they are like a 10% discount. if you are asked to pay 10% extra it seems like a lot of money. if you are given a 10% discount it sems too less. so facts if favorable are easily ignored, if against they can seriously demotivate you. the third thing is support. it is a usual misconception that the strength or relevance of the support are what decides its effectiveness. in actuality, the complexity of the "situation" or the force that the support (and yourself) are up against is the thing that can decide the effectiveness of the support.

The last thing. is your own will. not will in the Rocky XI sense but will as in how much are you willing to sacrifice for what you want to achieve. all the things mentioned above either help or obstruct but what decides how long the struggle will go on is your will and willingness to stick to it. its like your defenses that keep on taking blows and keep on deteriorating. signs and chances of success can increase the strength of the will whereas belief that things are going to go wrong can decrease the will. your thoughts and what you perceive the outcome to be has a very strong influence on the chances of success.

When you think you might lose, you already have.
